Cottage Grove police reports for Aug. 20
Recent criminal activity reported in Cottage Grove:
A Newport man was arrested on alleged drug possession following a reported fight. Police were called Aug. 6 to the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue. Miguel A. Cabrera, 26, was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats, fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding warrant. Cabrera allegedly pulled a knife to scare a victim in a fight, according to the report. He was booked into the Washington County jail.
A woman called police Aug. 1 to report that a bicyclist ran into her car parked in the 8700 block of Janero Avenue, damaging a mirror.
A Cottage Grove man called police Aug. 1 after he found a bullet hole on the outside of his home in the 11000 block of Kingsborough Trail. The man later found a bullet hole in a hallway in the home. It’s not known how it happened.
A 23-year-old West St. Paul man was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana after police were called shortly before midnight Aug. 1 to check on a suspicious vehicle parked on Highland Hills Lane.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 2 that a detached garage was burglarized in the 10000 block of Grey Cloud Trail. A bike valued at $500 and a gas can were stolen. There are no suspects.
A 41-year-old Newport man was arrested for theft July 25 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.
A Rosemount woman called police July 27 to report that her cellphone ($550) was stolen while she was at a party in Cottage Grove, but she didn’t know where the party was held.
A Fridley woman called police July 27 to report that a vehicle was stolen from the 8400 block of Hyde Avenue. Her son left keys for the vehicle at the residence before leaving. When he returned, the vehicle was gone, the report said.
A Cottage Grove resident called police July 28 to report that a landscape light was missing from a home in the 8500 block of Jorgensen Avenue. Loss: $50.
Police were called July 28 to the National Guard Armory on Belden Boulevard for a theft report. A license plate was stolen from a government vehicle.
A 32-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for shoplifting July 28 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.
Two Cottage Grove girls, ages 10 and 11, were referred to the Youth Service Bureau following a July 28 theft at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave.
Police received a report July 29 that an iPhone and Beats-brand headset were stolen from a backpack at Park High School, 8040 80th St.
A Cottage Grove woman called police July 29 to report that a cellphone ($500) and bottle of vodka ($8) were stolen from an unlocked car parked at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road.
Police were called July 30 on a reported break-in at a home under construction in the 9500 block of Dunes Lane. There were no signs of forced entry, but a refrigerator ($1,500), stove ($600) and dishwasher ($500) were stolen.
A St. Paul Park girl reported July 30 that a cellphone ($200) was taken from a backpack at Oakwood Park.
Three girls were referred to the Youth Service Bureau following a July 30 shoplifting incident at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave. They are 13-year-olds from Cottage Grove and Palatka, Florida, and a St. Paul Park girl.
A 27-year-old Newport woman was ticketed for shoplifting July 31 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.

An 18-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for shoplifting July 31 at Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Avenue.
SuperAmerica, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $50 gas drive-off Aug. 2. The gas station reported a $5 gas drive-off the next day.

Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $26 gas drive-off Aug. 3. Police learned that the license plate of the suspect vehicle did not match the registered vehicle. The vehicle’s registered owner was contacted, and she said several police departments had contacted her about the vehicle being used in gas drive-offs. The case was referred to the Lakeville Police Department.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 4 that some outgoing mail was stolen from her mailbox in the 6400 block of Hearthstone Avenue.
A 50-year-old Hastings woman was cited for shoplifting Aug. 5 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.
A 17-year-old Cottage Grove girl was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft Aug. 5 at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave.
BP gas station, 8490 East Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 5 that three Wisconsin travel atlases ($64) were stolen. No suspects.
A 30-year-old Prescott, Wis., woman was cited Aug. 6 for shoplifting, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road.
Police were called to Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road, after a male suspect left the store without paying for six cans of compressed air. The suspect was identified and charges were pending.
