Man charged with spitting on St. Paul Park police officer

A man is charged for spitting on a St. Paul Park police officer as he was being hauled away to detox.

Washington County prosecutors charged Jarrett Seamans, 27, of Inver Grove Heights, with felony fourth-degree assault of an officer. The charge alleges he intentionally transferred bodily fluids onto the officer.

St. Paul Park police were called May 24 to a home in the 1200 block of Sixth Street to handle an intoxicated man who was being verbally aggressive, according to the Washington County District Court criminal complaint.

Seamans was obviously intoxicated when police arrived, the complaint states. Someone at the home said they did not want Seamans there anymore, and he refused an offer of a ride home.

When approached by police, Seamans immediately got up and confronted the officer. Police decided to bring him to a detox facility. As Seamans was escorted to a squad car he yelled and swore, and then he spit in an officer’s face, according to the complaint.

A warrant was issued for Seamans’ arrest. He was scheduled to appear July 24 in Washington County District Court.
