Newport police reports for July 3

Recent criminal activity reported in Newport: 


A Newport woman called police June 2 to report that two diamond rings ($2,100 and $550) were stolen from her home in the 1200 block of Woodbury Road. The woman said she took off the rings and left them on her kitchen counter when she went outside to garden. The rings were gone when she returned, the report said.

A Newport man reported June 3 that someone entered his garage in the 200 block of Third Avenue and stole a wire-feed welder ($700) and a gas torch and tanks ($1,200).

Property damage

A Newport man reported June 6 that a window was damaged in his vehicle in the 1500 block of 11th Avenue. The man believed it was shot out with a slingshot.


A Newport man told police June 22 that his wallet was stolen while he slept in the breezeway of a residence in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue. The wallet contained $80 cash and credit cards, one of which was used illegally at several stores totaling $1,700 in fraudulent purchases.
