Newport police reports for March 6: Assault, theft, threat

Recent criminal activity reported in Newport:


A Cottage Grove woman reported to St. Paul Park police Feb. 3 that she had been assaulted by a Cottage Grove man. The case was under investigation.


A St. Paul Park man reported Feb. 4 that someone stole two space heaters, a ladder, ice melt, a floor lamp and a shovel from a building in the 300 block of 21st Street. No suspects.

A Newport man reported Feb. 12 that someone had stolen doors from inside a semi-trailer parked at Werner Enterprises, 905 First St. There are no suspects.

A resident of Red Rock Manor, 1421 10th Ave., reported Feb. 12 that prescription medication was taken from an apartment.


A Newport woman called police Feb. 4 to document a threats case involving her daughter. An 8-year-old boy told her daughter he would shoot her mother with a BB gun if the girl called police on him following an argument they had at Newport Elementary School, according to the report. The issue was being handled by the school.
