Newport police reports for Nov. 23: Break-in, domestic, suspicious activity

Recent criminal activity reported in Newport:


A Newport woman reported Oct. 4 that someone entered an unattached garage in the 1500 block of Cedar Lane and rummaged through it.


Police received a vandalism report Oct. 4. Someone spray-painted the outside of a warming house at Loveland Park.


Police were called at 3:05 a.m. Oct. 5 to an apartment in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue for a reported domestic. An officer met with a man who appeared intoxicated and said he just returned home. A living room coffee table was broken. The man said it was broken when he got home. The police report said the man woke up his sleeping girlfriend, who was intoxicated, and asked why she broke the table. “Because,” she said before falling back asleep.

Property damage

A Newport man reported Oct. 8 that someone damaged the screen door on his cottage in the 2100 block of Hastings Avenue. There was no break-in.

Suspicious activity

Police were called Oct. 11 to a home in the 700 block of Ford Road for a suspicious activity report. The homeowner said he heard someone outside the house and then heard someone running away. Plants were knocked over on his deck.
