UPDATE: Cottage Grove police investigating 'unknown medical' in Hinton Heights
The Cottage Grove Police Department, along with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, is investigating an incident involving a 36-year-old male who was taken to the hospital with significant facial injuries.
Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday police were called to the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue, inside the Hinton Heights apartment complex, on a report of an unknown medical situation. Several squad cars, the Cottage Grove command post vehicle and an ambulance were on scene.
According to a press release issued by the Cottage Grove Police Capt. Greg Rinzel, officers arrived on scene to find a man with "significant facial injuries." The man was unable to give a statement as to what happened, the release said.
The man was transported to Regions Hospital by Cottage Grove paramedics and is currently in stable condition.
During the investigation, police blocked off a perimeter around the residence.
An ongoing police presence is to be expected, Rinzel said in the release, as the department and the BCA continue investigating the cause of the man's injuries.
Cottage Grove Public Safety was assisted by Newport, St. Paul Park and Woodbury police departments.
