Cottage Grove police reports for April 26: Suspicious video, assault, vandalism, domestic assault

Suspicious video

A Cottage Grove woman told police on March 22 that someone had posted an inappropriate video to her Facebook timeline. The content of the video was not clear in the police report. The video was removed before police could investigate it.


A 23-year-old St. Paul man was cited for fifth-degree assault following an altercation involving multiple people on March 23 at a residence in the 8800 block of 90th Street. The man pushed another man, causing a cut.

A 10-year-old Cottage Grove male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for fifth-degree assault after he punched a fellow classmate in the face April 12 at Crestview Elementary School.


Police received a report April 12 that a couple of vehicles were hit with eggs in the 6900 block of Homestead Avenue. Two days later, officers received a report that a vehicle was egged in the 7300 block of Iden Avenue.

Domestic assault

Vallantine E. Atem, 41, of Cottage Grove, was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and domestic assault-strangulation after a 28-year-old Cottage Grove woman said Atem struck her multiple times in the face during a domestic incident April 6 at a home in the 6600 block of Pine Crest Trail. Atem was booked into Washington County jail pending a formal complaint.

Vehicle fire

A vehicle fire slowed traffic along Highway 61 in Cottage Grove. Cottage Grove firefighters and the State Patrol were dispatched at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, for a vehicle fire. The vehicle was on the shoulder of the northbound lanes north of 80th Street. The fire was extinguished. There were no reported injuries.
