Cottage Grove police reports for April 25: Property damage, fight, theft

Property damage

Police were investigating complaints made March 30 that juveniles were shooting BB guns and damaging houses in the 8300 block of 79th Street.

A privacy fence was reported damaged April 3 at Hemingway Avenue and 79th Street. No damage amount was listed.

A Cottage Grove resident reported April 10 that someone hammered two bolts into a brake light lens on a vehicle parked in the 7800 block of 73rd Street. Damage: $300.

A St. Paul Park woman told police April 12 that she had left her car parked overnight in a parking lot in the 7100 block of East Point Douglas Road and it was damaged. The windshield and a window were broken and a door panel was damaged. Nothing was stolen from inside the car. The damage was estimated at $2,000.

A Prescott woman reported April 17 that her vehicle was keyed while it was parked in the 7400 block of 80th Street.


Police were called to American Motorsports Bar and Bill, 7240 East Point Douglas Road, about 2:15 a.m. March 17 on a report of a fight. There were no charges. Police warned people on scene about disorderly conduct.

A 15-year-old St. Paul Park boy and a 17-year-old Cottage Grove boy were referred to the Youth Service Bureau for disorderly conduct after they were fighting in a hallway at Park High School on March 27.


A Cottage Grove man reported April 12 that CDs, headphones and a gift card were stolen from two cars parked in the 7100 block of Hidden Valley Trail. Loss: $220.

A 19-year-old Woodbury man was cited April 12 for shoplifting $44 worth of merchandise at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road.

A 22-year-old man with no permanent address was ticketed for shoplifting following an incident April 12 at Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road.

SuperAmerica, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $53 gas drive-off on April 14.

A 21-year-old Cottage Grove man accused of shoplifting was ticketed after trying to run from police. Officers were called to Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, on April 17 for a shoplifting case. The suspect ran from the store but was found nearby across Highway 61. He was cited for obstructing the legal process, shoplifting and fleeing.
