Cottage Grove police reports: Assault, drugs, theft, fraud, break-in


A 39-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for disorderly conduct after he allegedly got into a verbal confrontation and slapped another Cottage Grove man following a Nov. 18 road rage incident. The two drivers were traveling near 70th Street and Inwood Avenue when the road rage incident occurred. The victim pulled into a gas station on Pine Arbor Drive and called police.


Two Cottage Grove females, both 15, were referred to the Youth Service Bureau after they were caught trying to shoplift Nov. 21 from Kohl's, 7990 Hardwood Ave.


A 15-year-old St. Paul Park male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found in possession of a marijuana pipe Nov. 18 at Park High School.

Police issued a drug-related citation after noticing a suspicious vehicle in a church parking lot late at night. According to the report, an officer observed a car parked in a church lot at Hyde Avenue and Hyde Court just after 11 p.m. Nov. 21. The officer made contact with the passengers and could smell marijuana. Subsequently, police recovered a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. A 19-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.


A Cottage Grove woman reported Nov. 28 that an unknown person charged three airline tickets on her check card. The charges totaled $1,470.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Nov. 29 that someone used her debit card to purchase plane tickets and movie tickets. A value of the charges was not listed.


A 16-year-old Woodbury male and a 17-year-old Cottage Grove mail were issued juvenile citations for fifth-degree assault in connection with a fight Nov. 28 at the District 833 Alternative Learning Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road.

Pedestrian accident

A 21-year-old Cottage Grove woman was transported to Regions Hospital with moderate injuries after she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old Cottage Grove man around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at Jarvis Avenue and 92nd Street. The driver was cited for inattentive driving.


Police received a report Nov. 29 that a bike valued at $80 was stolen from outside Grey Cloud Elementary School, 9525 Indian Blvd., sometime prior to Oct. 31.

Drug referrals

Two St. Paul Park males, ages 16 and 17, were referred to the Youth Service Bureau's chemical awareness program after police allegedly found them in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana Nov. 29 at Woodridge Park. The officer found the males in a vehicle while conducting a regular park check.

Attempted break-in

A Cottage Grove woman called police at about 4:15 p.m. Nov. 30 to report a possible break-in at her home in the 7100 block of Hidden Valley Cove. The woman said she was upstairs when she heard a sound downstairs and her dog started barking. She discovered a sliding glass door open about 2 inches, and possible pry marks near the door. Police checked the area but did not locate anyone suspicious.


A driver avoided injuries after his vehicle rolled Nov. 28 while traveling on Highway 61 south of 80th Street, according to an initial police report. The male driver attempted to overcorrect and the southbound vehicle fishtailed and rolled, hitting a cable barrier in the median. The crash happened at about 7:50 a.m. The driver said he was tired, according to the report. Further information was not immediately available.
