Cottage Grove police reports: Vandalism, suspicious activity, property damage

Suspicious activity

A Cottage Grove woman reported at noon Oct. 28 that at 3 a.m. that morning someone may have been removing mail from mailboxes in the 7300 block of Jordon Avenue. No suspect was located. Police encouraged the woman to report such activity soon after it occurs.

Car fire

Police were called to a car fire around 7:15 p.m. Oct. 28 in the 7800 block of Hemingway Ave. There was a small oil fire. Cottage Grove Fire Department responded.

Police were called Oct. 31 to a car fire in the 7500 block of Jeffery Avenue. The engine compartment was on fire.

Suspicious vehicle

Police were called to Highway 61 and 80th Street at about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 29 on a report that a vehicle was flashing emergency lights from its dash but was not a police car. Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. The information was given to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Property damage

A Cottage Grove man reported Oct. 29 that his vehicle was keyed while it was parked at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road. Damage: $500. No suspects.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 30 that someone had smashed her mailbox and on the previous day someone had smashed 30 pumpkins in the neighborhood of the 6400 block of Hedgecroft Avenue.

City of Cottage Grove employees reported Oct. 31 that a window was broken on a warming house at Pine Tree Valley Park in the 8400 block of Indian Boulevard. Damage: $300.


A caller told police Nov. 1 that the windshield and rear sliding window on a truck were damaged with rocks while parked in the 9000 block of Islay Avenue. Loss: $800.
