Cottage Grove police reports: theft, burglary, property damage and vandalism


A 22-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for theft of service after police were called around 5 a.m. Oct. 8 to a residence in the 8100 block of Ingleside Avenue. A taxi driver had dropped the woman off at her home. She went inside but did not pay the full cab fare. Police then ticketed the woman.

A 15-year-old St. Paul Park boy was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after police were called Oct. 11 to Park High School on a report of a stolen iPod.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 13 that a DVD player and GPS device ($225 total) were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 9200 block of Hallmark Avenue.


A woman living in the 9800 block of Heath Avenue called police Oct. 6 to report vandalism problems. The latest case involved someone throwing a neighbor's yard statue into her backyard and breaking a brick paver. Damage estimated at $5.

Police were called Oct. 8 to the 9800 block of 78th Street on a report of vandalism to three mailboxes. No damage estimate listed.


A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 7 that someone stole two flatscreen televisions and a purse from her home in the 8800 block of 90th Street. The woman's daughter had acquaintances at the home while she was gone. There was no sign of forced entry. Two of the acquaintances are suspects in the burglary, police said. The incident is under investigation.

Property damage

A Cottage Grove resident on Oct. 9 reported damage to a mailbox at the residence in the 7100 block of Timber Crest Drive. Damage was estimated at $50. There were no suspects.
