Traffic on Highway 61 northbound and Interstate 494 was backed up nearly to St. Paul Park Tuesday morning after an overnight snow and ice storm slickened roads.

Cottage Grove police Capt. Pete Koerner said the department did not have to respond to any accidents, despite the dangerous roadways.

Woodbury police said they had seven crashes reported between 7 a.m. and noon, as well as a few other reports of vehicles off the road.

The State Patrol reported 410 crashes between 8 a.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday across the state, and 515 spinouts or off-the-road vehicles. One fatal crash was reported in Benson and 36 caused injuries.
