Silent auction items for the annual Woodbury Chamber Gala are streaming in the door.

This year's auction, set for Friday, Jan. 23, at the Prom Center in Oakdale, will offer some of the best items ever at potentially great prices.

Kelley Galleries, a locally owned custom framing and art gallery, has donated several framed paintings including Susan Amidon's new "Evening on Old Seven Corners" and "The Rookie" by Terrence Fogarty depicting young hockey players on an outdoor rink.

Tuscan vineyard scenes are also available and tie into the event's theme -- "An Evening in Tuscany."

Numerous sports memorabilia items are also featured, including a Michael Phelps autographed Olympic display; a handcrafted putter with Vikings logo and the grip signed by all four of the Purple People Eaters (Page, Eller, Marshall and Larson); an Adrian Peterson autographed 8"x10" action photo; hand-signed photo displays of Twins Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau; hand-signed displays of Minnesota Wild players Brent Burns, Nickolas Backstron and Mikko Koivu; Color of Money autographed movie poster starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise; photo displays of The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen; and Barack Obama's nomination acceptance speech display.

Assorted gift baskets and gift certificates, a large garden water fountain from Buells' Landscape Center and a week's stay in a beautifully furnished, three-bedroom golf condo in Palm Desert, Calif., are also part of the mix.

Anyone interested in donating items to the auction ($50 or more in value) can drop them off at the chamber office, 7650 Currell Blvd. No. 360, no later than Tuesday, Jan. 13.

All donor names will be listed in the auction catalog available on event night.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with social hour, live "gypsy jazz" music by the Dean Harrington Trio and the silent auction.

Dinner is served at 7:30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony honoring Business, Citizen and Educators of the Year.

Tickets are $50 per person or $400 a table, and can be obtained by calling Nancy Kennedy in the chamber office, (651) 578-0722.

The entire community is invited to attend this major fundraiser that helps sustain the chamber.
