South Washington County residents honored fallen military veterans at a number of local Memorial Day observances Monday.

The American Legion Post 98 Honor Guard participated in brief services at seven area cemeteries, Veterans Park in St. Paul Park and the Mississippi River. The names of veterans buried in the cemeteries were read aloud during the memorials.
