Weekend Planner: Bargains and entertainment

Looking for terrific bargains in kids clothes and furnishings? Try the Early Childhood Family Education garage sale this weekend. There's another sale in Mendota Heights. Also this weekend -- a fish dinner, concert, history lesson, open house and "Camp Rock" at Hill-Murray School.

The Hastings Area Concert Association will present the "Redhead Express" in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Hastings Middle School. It is the last show of the 2010-11 season. The performance is free to current season members, and to any nonmember who purchases a 2011-12 season pass at the door April 8. Season passes are $50 and cover six concerts.

Cooks at American Legion Post 98, at 328 Broadway Ave. in St. Paul Park are serving Friday night fish dinners through April 22. Dinner is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Historian Lois Glewwe will present "Minnesota's Trail of Tears: The Beginning of the Exile of the Dakota," at the Saturday, April 9 meeting of the South Washington Heritage Society, 10 a.m. at St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Ave. First time visitors attend free.

The annual Early Childhood Family Education and School Readiness Children's Garage Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Cottage Grove Middle School, 9775 Indian Blvd. Admission is $1; no strollers will be allowed inside.

The women of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Mendota Heights is holding a spring rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9. The church is located at 700 Wesley Lane, north of the intersection of Highway 110 and Dodd Road.

Students at Hill-Murray School in Maplewood will present Disney's "Camp Rock: The Musical" at 7 p.m. April 8 and 9.

Families interested in a private, parochial education for students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to an open house at St. Andrew's Lutheran School, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the school, 1001 Holley Ave. in St. Paul Park.
