Farmington finance director accepts Cottage Grove position
Farmington's longtime finance director has accepted an offer from the City of Cottage Grove to fill the city's vacant finance position, Cottage Grove officials confirmed Thursday.
Robin Roland, a 13-year veteran of Farmington City Hall, was offered the position late last week, and this week submitted her notice of resignation to Farmington city officials.
If approved by council members at next Wednesday's city council meeting, as Mayor Myron Bailey said he expects, Roland would begin her employment with Cottage Grove on Nov. 30.
Roland, 50, said Thursday a move to Cottage Grove "is a natural, evolutionary step for me" after 13 years in Farmington. As Farmington's finance director, she has helped oversee more than a decade of growth, watching the Dakota County city grow from roughly 12,000 residents in 1996 to around 21,000 today.
That experience helped Roland stand out from a field of more than 20 applicants, Bailey said.
"She'll do extremely well for us," he said. "I have no qualms about saying that."
Cottage Grove's finance director position has been filled on an interim basis since April, when former director Ron Hedberg accepted a job with the City of Apple Valley.
Terms of employment, including salary, have not yet been released.
