Weekend planner: Bridges walk and cancer benefit sale this weekend


HEALING MINISTER -- Joe Cuoco, known as a healing evangelist minister, will lead worship at 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Open Heart Church, 700 Summit Ave., St. Paul Park. All are welcome to participate. For details, call (651) 768-0737.

CANCER BENEFIT GARAGE SALE -- Darlene Stocker, the sister of Ruthie Reese's neighbor in St. Paul Park, recently died after fighting pancreatic cancer for only 29 days. To help raise money for the American Cancer Society's Cottage Grove Relay for Life team dedicated to Stocker's memory, Reese is hosting a garage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, June 19 to 21, at her home, 836 Holley Ave. Reese, says she already has "lots of furniture and is willing to deal."


CAN DRIVE FOR TILSONS -- Friends and co-workers of the Deb and Dan Tilson family, St. Paul Park, are "filling a farm truck with aluminum cans," and need your help. Take cans to the District Service Center parking lot, 7362 East Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21.

BRIDGES WALK -- Newport's first annual Bridges Fun Walk -- across both pedestrian bridges and down service roads -- will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21. The walk begins near the Tinucci's parking lot on Seventh Avenue. The entry fee is one non-perisable food item per participant. For an addtional $2 (or $5 per family) participants receive a passport that, if stamped at each of four stations along the 2.25-mile walk, makes them eligible for door prizes. Children, 12-years-old and younger, receive free prizes. All proceeds will go to the Friends in Need Food Shelf, St. Paul Park.


PIZZA FUNDRAISER FOR CANCER RELAY -- Carbone's Pizzeria, 70th Street and County Highway 19, Cottage Grove, will donate 15 percent of everything sold from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 23, to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of the Cottage Grove Area. Everyone is invited for pizza, either dine-in or take out.

BLOOD DRIVE -- The Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 98 is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 12 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Legion hall, 328 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park. Donors must be 17-years old or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and must have a photo ID with first and last name or a donor card, and a Social Security number.
