For more than 10 years, Safety Camp has been a high point of the summer for kids in south Washington County.

Hosted by the Cottage Grove Parks and Recreation Department, 140 kids signed up in mid July for three days of training in how to stay safe on the Internet, on their bikes and how to escape from a house fire, to name a few of the topics covered in the camp held at Hamlet Park.

Kids also watched firefighters put out a real car fire and got a royal cooling off under the water of the fire hoses.
