Easter week events in south Washington County

The following events are planned in south Washington County for Easter 2013.

The Newport Library and Community Center will hold two free indoor Easter egg hunts Saturday, March 30. Kids, 5 and younger, are scheduled from 10-10:15 a.m. and kids, 6-9, will hunt from 10:30-10:45 a.m. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If you go, take your own basket. The library is located at 405 Seventh Ave., in Newport.

"Crown Him," an Easter musical drama will be performed by New Life Church of Woodbury at 7 p.m. March 28-30, and at 1 p.m. March 30.Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for youth, 12 years and younger. Members of the drama ministry at St. Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic Community will present, "The Road to Calvary," a 45-minute play dramatizing the events surrounding Jesus' passion and crucifixion, at noon on Good Friday, March 29. All are welcome to attend. The church is located at 4125 Woodbury Drive, in Woodbury.

Zion Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove invites members of the community--all ages--to take part in its annual Easter egg hunt, after the 10 a.m. worship service Easter Sunday, March 31.

Hundreds of eggs, prizes and some baskets will be scattered throughout the grounds or indoors depending on the weather. Easter Sunday worship will begin with a sunrise service at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast from 8:30-9:45 a.m. and a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. Zion is located at 8500 Hillside Trail in Cottage Grove.

The 16th annual community Easter egg hunt at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7000 Hinton Ave., in Cottage Grove, will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. All are welcome to participate.

Light the Way Church in Cottage Grove will not present its Easter musical production, "One Voice," this year, but, instead will incorporate musical numbers and vignettes from the drama during Easter Sunday worship, 10 a.m. March 31. The children's choir will also perform.

Members of The Servants of the Cross will re-enact the Passion of Jesus Christ at two locations on Good Friday, March 29:12 p.m. at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1725 Kennard St., in Maplewood; and 7 p.m. at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133 15th St. N., in Oakdale.
