Washington County got some good news from Washington D.C. this past week.
Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-St. Paul) informed county officials that her office is submitting a request for $4 million in federal funding for a planned I-94 corridor transit alternatives study.
In addition the numerous changes already facing School District 833 this year — a new high school, new school boundaries, a new superintendent and a transition to a middle school system — yet another change is looming on the horizon.
ST. PAUL – Sen. Joe Gimse announced a plan to take $95 million from Twin Cities transit funds, and another $5 million from rural funds, to increase spending on school bus programs statewide.
ST. PAUL -- Proposed fishing regulation changes afloat in the Minnesota Legislature could get tangled in an end-of-session fight over an advisory council that would recommend outdoors funding decisions if voters approve a ballot measure this fall.
ST. PAUL -- Motorists would be prohibited from sending text messages while driving and Minnesota’s school bus laws may be strengthened as lawmakers look for ways to make traveling the state’s roads safer.
Rep. Denny McNamara, I have a few questions that you need to answer before the new session starts next month. I do think you are the one to ask, because you always tells us you have, “Talked to the governor or talked to MnDOT” and have all the answers about transportation funding.
