Fresh off its fifth-place finish in the state meet, the East Ridge girls cross country running team took sixth place out of 29 teams at the Nike Heartland regional meet in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Led by an All-State performance by sophomore Emily Betz, East Ridge finished in fifth place in the Class AA state meet on Saturday, Nov. 3, at St. Olaf College in Northfield – the best finish in the Raptors’ three state meet appearances.
The East Ridge girls reached a third-straight State Cross Country Meet, winning its second Section 4AA championship in history on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul. Also, earning a trip to the State Meet from the boys team was senior Nate Roese.
The annual District 833 cross-country race was held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, as hundreds turned out at Bailey Elementary School to watch over 150 local children in grades three to six run the 1.5-mile course around the Woodbury school.
In their final tune-up before the Suburban East Conference and Section Championship races, the East Ridge girls – ranked third in the state – finished in first place at the Blaine Invitational last week, while the East Ridge boys earned seventh place in the 15-team meet.
