The East Ridge girls swimming and diving team took part in its first-ever meet on Thursday, Aug. 27 as it finished sixth out of 10 teams at the Suburban East Conference relays at Stillwater Junior High School.
When Monica Koyama set the Park High School 100 freestyle record in as a senior in 1987, current Park swimmer Alyssa Kong wasn’t even born.
However, on Thursday night in a 102-79 loss to Cretin-Derham Hall, Kong, a sophomore, shattered Koyama’s 21-year-old record in a time of 55.49 in her leg of the team’s 400 free relay.
