Park sophomore R.J. Alowonle won the state championship in the 300-meter hurdles at the State Track and Field Meet on Saturday, June 12, at Hamline University — becoming the first male Park track and field athlete in 18 years to win a state title.

Up on the hill
Jay Powell has spent the past 10 years coaching shot put and discus toss, “up on the hill,” at Park High School. In that time, he has coached one state champion, 12 all-state throwers and has helped send over 20 boys and girls to the state meet.

Former Olympians steering ERAA track program
Keita and Coralea Cline, who were both standout track and field athletes at the University of Minnesota and who each qualified for the Olympics for the British Virgin Islands, are in the midst of their first season heading the East Ridge Athletic Association track and field program — training area youth in the sport they truly love.
