Candidate Viewpoint: Newport City Council candidate Tom Ingemann
The business community is pleased with the current climate in this city as far as a business goes. There has been nothing but positive comments from citizens as far as what they think about their city. I know the residents of the city of Newport are very smart and know what is going on in their city, and are not hoodwinked by a lot of broken promises, nonexistent connections and glorified nonsense.

Cottage Grove mayor's race: Challenger Magle ready 'to listen to all'
In 2009, as the city of Cottage Grove planned an extensive road and utility improvement project in the rural River Acres neighborhood, residents turned out at City Hall to vent their displeasure. They tried to persuade the City Council to delay the project — and the more than $5,000 in assessments each homeowner would shoulder if the roadwork went ahead. Among them was Chad Magle, who is opposing incumbent Mayor Myron Bailey on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Candidate Viewpoint: Cottage Grove City Council candidate Jen Peterson
During my term, despite the recession, Cottage Grove is doing very well. We continued to provide quality public services and found smart ways to work with neighboring communities to help save more public dollars. We also made improvements to our beautiful parks and trails. We put people back on the job building our much-needed new City Hall and public safety facility while the costs were low.
