Elizabeth Lawton, May 24, 1932 - Dec. 26, 2012, of Cottage Grove.
Elizabeth was born in New Jersey and raised in New York City. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Douglass College. She met and married Frederick Lawton in Ridgewood, N.J., in 1954. They moved to Chambersburg, Pa., where he taught before moving to Washington, D.C., so he could complete foreign service schooling. They lived in Monterrey, Mexico; Naples, Italy; and Hargeisa, Somalia. They returned to Bethesda, Md., where Frederick worked for the State Department. Elizabeth graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland with a degree in library science. After she retired from a career in library science, they moved to Cape Cod.
Preceded in death by husband, Frederick.
Beloved mother of Jocelyn (Eric) Lawton-Johnson, Douglas; grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas; cousins, Susie (Al) Nittolo, Martin (Carol) Frahme.
Memorial gathering 1-2 p.m., with memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park. Memorials to Alzheimer's Assn.
