John P. Tabor, 69

John P. Tabor, Proud Veteran, Past Commander Post 98, age 69, of St. Paul Park, unexpectedly on Oct. 17.

John Paul Tabor was born Oct. 24, 1942, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Elsie Margret (nee Jensen) and Alvin James Tabor. He was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1961. On May 23, 1975, he was united in marriage with Rosalind (nee Odegard) at Fort Snelling Chapel. John was a heavily decorated retired chief warrant officer in the United States Army, serving 32 years with two tours in Vietnam with the First Cavalry. He also served as the Post 98 Legion Commander from 2001-2003.

He enjoyed woodworking, making plaques, and collecting military memorabilia.

John was the beloved husband of Rosalind; loving father of Barry (Cathy) Whitmore, Sharon (Barry) White, Bruce and Brian Whitmore; Trina (Greg) Deiss, John (Cindy), Wesley (Sayil), David; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Fran (Lou) Dansky; brothers Joe (Lorraine), Tim (Joyce).

He was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Gene; sisters Betty, Mary.

Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park, and 1 hour before Mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley, St. Paul Park. Private inurnment church cemetery.
