Sandra Baldus, age 65, of Cottage Grove, passed away July 3.

Preceded in death by son Dennis; father, Floyd Baxter; father-in-law, Russel Baldus, and mother-in-law, Sylvia Baldus.

She is survived by husband, Lester; children Christopher (Dawn), Rebecca, and Carol (Paul) Martinson; grandchildren, Kevin Martinson, Savannah, Rose Marie, Anastasia, Colton, and Wolfgang; mother, Edith Baxter; siblings, Brian, Diane, and Kathy.

Mom's legacy is one of friendship, tenacity, generosity, and creativity. She liked visiting and telling tales, whether about the cabin she helped her father build, catching catfish, or one of the cruises she and Dad took. We all learned from her to play cards, to enjoy sci-fi or fantasy books, TV and movies, and our way around the Renaissance festivals.

And when something in our lives knocked us down, she comforted us and sent us back to try again.

She loved pets and we all grew up with dogs and cats.

She adored her grandchildren, helping care for them as newborns and playing with them as they grew.

She loved to knit and was a wonderful teacher when it came to teaching others how to. Her grandchildren all have blankets, mittens, hats, and toys knit by Grandma Sandy. They looked forward to what was coming each winter.

Knitting prayer shawls for the church was one of the ways she volunteered. Another was the many hours spent at Courage St. Croix. She made many dear friends there.

She will be forever loved and missed.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 6, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park. Private interment at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.

Arrangements with Kok Funeral Home, www.kokfuneral.com.
