Edwin F. Goebel Jr., age 54, of Baldwin, formerly of Cottage Grove, died Saturday, April 7, at the Baldwin Medical Center in Baldwin, Wis., following a lengthy illness.
A visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove. The funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, at the funeral home with visitation 1 hour prior.
Edwin F. Goebel Jr. was born Nov. 14, 1957, in St. Paul, Minn., to Edwin and Lois (Crosson) Goebel. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1975 and was married to Diane John in St. Paul later that year. They made their home in St. Paul for several years before moving to Cottage Grove in 1990 where they enjoyed watching their children grow. Edwin was a carpenter by trade and worked many years for a local fence company. Ed and Diane moved to Wisconsin in 2009.
Ed was a very hard worker and was known as a "jack of all trades." He was the "go to" man in the neighborhood. If your car was broken, he would be there in a heartbeat. If your roof was leaking, he would come right over. If you needed a helping hand, he wouldn't hesitate. He was very kind-hearted and willing to help anyone that he could. Hunting, fishing, barbequing, and four-wheeling were among his favorite things to do. Out of all the things he enjoyed, his family was extremely important to him. He loved spending time with Diane, his children and grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Molly. Ed was loved by many people...he will be missed very much.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diane; sons, John (Krista), Jeremy (Debbie), Matt (Heather); grandchildren: Clayton, Taylor, Samantha, and James; Becka, Austin, TJ, and Paige; father, Edwin (Mary Lou); siblings, Janice Rose, Geraldine (Bart) Westeen, Carolyn (Rickey) Nickens, Charles (Marie) Goebel, and Catherine (Tom) Kieger; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois, and his grandparents.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Kok Funeral Home, 651-459-2875.
