Susan A. Williams, age 51, of Newport, Minn., died Dec. 10 at the Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

Susan A. Williams, age 51, of Newport, Minn., died Dec. 10 at the Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Newport Cemetery.

Susan Arlene Williams, the daughter of Ralph and Arlene (Block) Berg, was born Nov. 20, 1960, the youngest and only daughter in a family with eight boys. She grew up in the St. Paul Park/Newport area where she attended Woodbury High School and worked at Fritzie Fresh Candy Company in Newport. She was united in marriage to Bill Williams on July 3, 1980, at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minn. With Bill's work, they relocated to Hastings, White Bear Lake, and then returned to Newport. Susan operated a daycare for several years and loved spending time with children.

She overcame many medical issues throughout the past few years and kept a good outlook. She enjoyed shopping, reading magazines, sewing, putting puzzles together, writing letters, and had the ability to strike up a conversation wherever she went.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bill; three children, Shannon (Jeremy) Pilaczynski, Jason, and Kristy; grandchildren, Cameron, Alexandria, and Matthew; brothers, Wayne (Sharon) Berg, Roger Berg, and Ronnie (Kim) Berg; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Bobby, Chuck, Dale, Jerry, and Steve.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Sue's was the 1st Christmas card that I received each year all decorated and neat and always a note inside. Whenever I did run into her she was so excited to see me and gave me a hug. I will truly miss her and I'm happy that I knew her!
