Just another waste of tax dollars for some feel good program that helps no one.

I have been to a few of these student led conferences and I agree with Christina. More importantly, most parents I have talked too also find them to be a waste of time. There are discussions regarding assessments, learning difficulties, socialization, etc. that need to be between the parents and staff with out having to tiptoe because Suzie or Johnny is sitting beside you. I don't understand why district staff thinks this type of conference is so amazing.

My husband and I met with our son at one of these conferences. Honestly, it was a waste of our time. The teacher was over 10 mintues late for was to be a 15 minute meeting. She was not prepared, did not really know our son and there was nothing presented we did not already know. While this might be useful for parents who are not actively involved in theirs kids lives I doubt the usefulness of the program. It is just another expense that is not worth it.
