Genetic counselor Mary Jarvais Ahrens will discuss the importance of researching your family medical history at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Dakota County Historical Society, 130 Third Ave. North in South St. Paul. The program is free and open to the public. Ahrens’ talk will explain why genetics has such a strong impact on health and why this topic should be included when you are researching the history of your family. She will also give examples of important questions to ask relatives about their health. The program is sponsored by the Dakota County Genealogical Society.
