Heritage Days could be carnival-less

St. Paul Park needs a carnival.

St. Paul Park needs a carnival.

Not just any carnival, but one for its 24th annual Heritage Days festival, which is scheduled Aug. 15 to 17. A carnival at the western end of Broadway Avenue has been a fixture of Heritage Days for most of those 24 years.

All American Amusements, based in Rosemount, has provided carnival rides, games and food for festival visitors for the past five years, said Ruth Dinger, Heritage Days committee co-chair.

“They couldn’t help us this year and we’ve been looking for a replacement for months with no success,” Dinger said.

Not only would families and children miss the bright lights, games and neon-colored prizes, but the Heritage Days committee would stand to lose between $1,000 to $1,500 in profit, which is about 10 percent of its total budget, Dinger said.
