It was game on, despite the wintery weather, as the Park/Woodbury girls lacrosse team earned a split in its first two games of the 2008 season.
The Royal Pack opened its season on a blustery April 8 evening at Wolfpack Stadium with a 10-3 loss to Mahtomedi.
Captain Jessica Gutierrez scored twice after Holly Frankenberg notched Park/Woodbury’s first goal of the season in the first quarter, but the Zephyrs pulled away before the opening frame was over and never looked back en route to the seven-goal win.
Undaunted, the Royal Pack bounced back the next night with an 11-4 defeat of Eagan/ Rosemount as Gutierrez netted four goals, with Kelsie Anderson scoring twice.
Kelby Land, Katie Bahls, Kayla Guanella, Ciara Wohlford and Frankenberg also tallied goals in the win.
Park/Woodbury hosted Roseville on April 15, after the Bulletin went to press. The squad will welcome Visitation to Wolfpack Stadium on April 16, before traveling to Hill-Murray the next day for its first road test.
