A 40-member cast from Light the Way Church, Cottage Grove, will present “One Voice,” an Easter musical, for the next two weekends.
Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved for performances, which are scheduled at:
n 7:30 p.m. Fridays, March 14, and 21; and
n 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, and Saturday, March 22.
“It’s a very emotional presentation,” said Light the Way pastor John Magee. Because of the intensity of the crucifixion scene, he cautions parents against bringing children, 10 or younger, to a performance.

French toast breakfast
The Men’s Fellowship at Zion Lutheran Church, Cottage Grove, is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat French toast breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 16. Everyone is invited to attend.
Freewill offerings will be accepted, with suggested donations of $4 for adults and $2 for children, 11 and younger. The menu will include French toast, sausage, mixed fruit, coffee, milk and juice.

Youth will serve
Youth at Woodbury Lutheran Church will serve breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday, March 23, at the church.
Proceeds from the breakfast will help provide scholarships for summer mission trips to Matoon, Ill.; Rapid City, S.D.; and Mexico, and it will also support local youth service projects.
Easter services will begin with a youth-led program at 6 a.m., followed by services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary, with Genesis contemporary services at 9:30 and 10:50 a.m.

Easter egg hunt for all
Parents in south Washington County are invited to bring their children, preschool through sixth grade, to the annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1975 St. John’s Drive, Woodbury, two blocks east of County Road 19 on Valley Creek Road.

Two United Methodist churches vote to merge
Congregations at Peaceful Grove United Methodist Church, Cottage Grove, and Woodbury United Methodist Church, voted to merge effective July 1. The vote — taken at both churches in special meetings March 2 — was 196 in favor, 83 against and one abstention.
The blended parish has been under discussion by special task forces from both congregations for the past 18 months, according to Gary Christensen of Peaceful Grove.
A second election will be held May 18 to vote on the legal aspects of the merger. Until then, committees will continue to meet to organize the day-to-day details of operating a blended parish.
Ron Purcell, a member of the Peaceful Grove task force, said the mission of the new parish will be to “show our church love to all.
“We will be able to offer an extended family to everyone in south Washington County and beyond,” Purcell said.

Family Lent event
“Journey to Easter,” a family event for Lent, will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, a no-school day, at Woodbury United Methodist Church, 7465 Steepleview Road.
Children, 4 years old through third grade, will make a craft, share a snack and hunt for Easter eggs as they hear the story of Jesus’ life from Palm Sunday to Easter. A $3 donation is suggested along with a canned food item for the food shelf.

Easter services at Cottage Grove United Church of Christ will be held:
Palm Sunday, March 16 — The worship service at 10:15 a.m. will include the Sunday school choir. Brunch will be served after the service by church youth.
Maundy Thursday, March 20 — Worship service with communion will take place at 7 p.m.
n Good Friday, March 21 — A Tenebrae Service of Shadows — the passion story told through drama and music — is scheduled at 7 p.m.
Easter Sunday, March 23 — A sunrise service with communion will take place at 7 a.m. A celebration worship service is scheduled at 9 a.m. The JC Rock Praise Band will perform at both services.
First Sunday after Easter, March 30 — An Easter Choral Cantata will be sung at worship at 10:15 a.m.
