Letter: Bonding for roads fair
I would like to respond to a letter in your Jan. 30 issue. The writer of the letter was obviously a Democrat with an axe to grind against Rep. McNamara. I would like to respond to a letter in your Jan. 30 issue. The writer of the letter was obviously a Democrat with an axe to grind against Rep. McNamara. I take issue with his opposition to bonding for roads and bridges. He complains that this would spread the cost over 30 years and make our children and grandchildren pay for roads and bridges. This complaint does not make sense to me. Won’t our children and grandchildren be using the same roads and bridges? Why should one group of taxpayers have to pay the bill for projects that will last for many, many years? Also the writer assumes that there is not already enough taxpayer money for needed improvements, money that is squandered by our bloated government.
