It was a good week for the New Life Academy boys basketball team as it came away with two wins by 10 or more points.
On Jan. 15, the Eagles (8-6; 3-1 MCAA) soared against Bethany Academy, coming away with a 64-49 win.
NLA junior guard Sam Nelson led the way for the Eagles with 19 points, while senior forward Zach Prefer added 10. Sam Hagen scored 17 points to lead Bethany Academy (4-9; 0-4 MCAA).
It was more of the same on Friday night, with New Life Academy defeating Legacy Christian 70-53.
The Eagles didn’t have the game’s leading scorer on its squad, but that didn’t seem to matter.
Ten different players scored in the game for New Life in the win over Legacy (5-9; 1-3 MCAA).
NLA sophomore Jake Wynia led the Eagles’ team effort with 17 points. Cam Duffy netted 13 points and Horner chipped in nine points. Legacy’s Colton Richards led all scorers with 27 points.
Things get tougher this week.
NLA took on ninth-ranked Class A team West Lutheran (11-3; 2-2 MCAA) on Tuesday after the Bulletin went to print. Next, sixth-ranked Heritage Christian (13-1; 3-1 MCAA) visits Woodbury on Thursday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
