The East Ridge volleyball team’s season came to an end last week.
The Raptors lost their Section 4AAA semifinal match against second-seeded North St. Paul 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul.
The East Ridge volleyball team’s attempt at a second-ever run to the state tournament ended as it was swept by North St. Paul on Tuesday night – a win away from the section title game. The Raptors lost by scores of 17-25, 18-25 and 21-25.
East Ridge finished the season 17-13 overall. The Raptors were the No. 6 seed out of 12 teams in Section 4AAA.
In the match, East Ridge senior Margaret Eggert led the team with 11 kills, while sophomore Claire Whitman had six kills.
The team was able to play well and grow throughout the season, but not making the state tournament was tough, as the team’s main goal was to get back to the big dance that it reached two years ago.
East Ridge now looks to rebuild next year on its solid output from its younger players this season, but it will not forget the leadership the senior class showed, especially Eggert and Tess Kelzenberg.
