East Ridge High School’s baseball team rolled onto a two-game winning streak, beating Hastings 2-1 on Monday, April 30, and White Bear Lake, 3-2, last Wednesday before falling 2-1 in 9 innings against Mounds View last Friday on the road.

The Raptors (6-8, 6-6 Suburban East Conference) bested Hastings for the second time this season, as winning pitcher sophomore Drew Molin gave up five hits while fanning four. Raptors senior David Lang went 2-for-3 at bat and senior Josh Rollins was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

East Ridge followed with another victory, defeating White Bear Lake and avenging a three-run loss suffered by the Bears on April 11. Winning pitcher senior Mark Landgrebe struck out six batters, while giving up five hits and two runs. Senior Andy Sammon led the Raptors at bat, going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs.

The Raptors’ 2-1 loss to Mounds View last Friday came at the bottom of the ninth inning when Mounds View junior Lars Anderson hit a single to score the winning run. The game marked the Mustangs’ second win over East Ridge this season, though the tune was quite different this time around: Last Friday’s ninth-inning showdown was much closer than Mounds View’s earlier, 13-2 drumming on April 13. Sophomore Molin took the loss on the mound, while Mounds View senior Matt Herringshaw earned the win after giving up 1 earned run.

The Raptors, currently sixth place in the SEC, will travel to Stillwater on Monday after the Bulletin went to press. They will host Forest Lake today and Cretin-Derham Hall on Friday.

In their previous outings, East Ridge beat Stillwater, 5-4, and lost to Forest Lake 4-1 and to Cretin-Derham Hall 3-0. Cretin-Derham Hall is currently ranked sixth in Class 3A and leads the SEC with a 10-2 conference record. Mounds View and Forest Lake are tied for second at 8-4.
