Cottage Grove Charter Commission to take public comment
Entire March meeting will be dedicated to public inputBy: Scott Wente, South Washington County Bulletin
The Cottage Grove Charter Commission is dedicating its full meeting this month to hearing from residents.
The commission is seeking public comment on whether it should proceed toward drafting a new governing document for Cottage Grove. The commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Cottage Grove City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway.
A decision on whether the commission begins to write a charter could come at its April 25 meeting.
The court-appointed commission has been meeting since last year, after citizens upset about the decision to build a new city hall building collected signatures to trigger the charter process.
If the commission drafted a charter, it would require city voters’ approval. A charter could include limitations on some city spending.
