Cottage Grove Charter commission to get 101 on city spending, taxing
Charter commission to hear from city staffBy: Scott Wente, South Washington County Bulletin
The Cottage Grove Charter Commission will hear from key city staff when it meets later this month.
Commission members want a presentation on the city budget and its taxing and spending. Top city administrative and finance staff are expected to attend and answer questions from commission members about the potential impact of a charter.
The meeting comes as the commission is nearing a decision on whether to draft a proposed charter for the city. A charter, which would need voter approval, would serve as a new government for the city and could include new limitations on city spending.
The commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Cottage Grove City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway. The meeting is open to the public.
Commission members were appointed by a Washington County District Court judge.
