Cottage Grove police reports for Feb. 19: Theft and property damage

Theft
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident Jan. 25. A 41-year-old Hastings man was cited for shoplifting after he stole $55 worth of merchandise.
Two men in their 70s were cited for theft at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, on Jan. 27. The men — a 71-year-old from St. Paul and a 78-year-old from Minneapolis — tried to steal two rolls of copper wire valued at $153, according to police. They were ticketed for shoplifting.
Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft on Feb. 2. A 44-year-old Oakdale woman was cited for shoplifting cold medicine.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $36 gas drive-off on Feb. 4.
A Cottage Grove student at Grey Cloud Elementary School reported Feb. 5 that an iPod ($170 value) was stolen from the school.
A 53-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting Feb. 8 at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, after she put several items in her purse and consumed a beverage without paying for it.
Top Ten Wine and Spirits, 8617 East Point Douglas Road, reported Feb. 8 that a male suspect stole two bottles of tequila. The man has not been charged. The liquor store reported a day later that a man stole a bottle of vodka. That suspect fled before police arrived.
A Cottage Grove woman living in the 9500 block of Kimbro Avenue reported Feb. 10 that a $3,000 ring was missing from her residence.
Property damage
An Eagan man reported Jan. 26 that his vehicle was keyed while it was parked at Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road.
A Cottage Grove man reported Jan. 26 that tires were slashed on his vehicle parked in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue. Subsequently, a 43-year-old man who lives in the same apartment building was cited for damage to property.
A resident in the 8300 block of Jasmine Avenue reported Feb. 3 that a vehicle hit a mailbox. Police followed tracks from the vehicle and found the driver nearby. Subsequently, Robert C. Stair Jr., 49, of Cottage Grove, was arrested and booked into Washington County jail on suspicion of third-degree drunken driving.
Domestic
Police were called Feb. 3 to a domestic incident at a home in the 9100 block of 79th Street. A 35-year-old Woodbury man was expected to be charged with domestic assault after he allegedly slapped a Cottage Grove woman at the home.
