Thieves made away with cash and computer parts in an early morning burglary at the Bulletin License Center in Cottage Grove.

Police were called to the license center, 8599 West Point Douglas Road, after a security alarm was triggered about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, according to police. Officers arrived and found the front door shattered.

Cash and a computer monitor and keyboard were reported stolen for a total loss estimated at $1,300.

License center owner Gary Spooner said cameras in the building captured two suspects breaking the front door glass, rummaging through the office and leaving within one minute. The video was turned over to police. There was broken glass on the floor and drawers pulled out in the office.

“What a mess,” Spooner said.

It was the fourth time the license center has been burglarized in the seven years it’s been on West Point Douglas Road, Spooner said.

The license center and the Bulletin newspaper are separate businesses.
