St. Paul Park police reports for Feb. 13: Assault, theft, after-hours drinking, property damage

Recent reported criminal activity in St. Paul Park.

Assault

A 46-year-old St. Paul park man was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call following a Jan. 6 incident at a home in the 800 block of Selby Avenue. The man allegedly slapped a woman and took the phone away from her during a 3 a.m. altercation. Two tests showed the man’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.314 and 0.290, nearly four times the legal driving limit, according to the report.

A 28-year-old Maplewood woman was arrested on suspicion of assault after she allegedly bit a St. Paul park man during a domestic incident Jan. 6 at a home in the 1400 block of Blossom Lane. The woman was cited for domestic assault.

A 23-year-old St. Paul Park man was arrested for alleged domestic assault by strangulation after a St. Park woman called police Jan. 16 to report a physical domestic incident in the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue.

Theft

A Cottage Grove man reported Jan. 6 that someone stole a laptop computer from his truck and smashed a window on the truck in the 1200 block of Mullen Court.

A 25-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for theft after she admitted to stealing pizza and household merchandise from SuperAmerica, 545 Summit Ave., on Jan. 11. A store video recording showed her stealing items, and she later admitted to the theft, according to the report.

SuperAmerica, 545 Summit Ave., reported Jan. 27 that someone paid for gas and then left without paying.

After-hours drinking

A police officer on patrol about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 13 reported seeing people at the bar inside Park Grove Bowl, 1020 Hastings Ave., well after closing time. Subsequently, a 38-year-old Farmington man working as the bartender was cited for selling liquor after hours, and the bowling alley was issued an administrative citation.

Disorderly conduct

A St. Paul Park man was cited for disorderly conduct Jan. 14 after interrupted a police officer who was writing a citation for the man’s winter parking ban violation in the 1400 block of Laurel Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. The man exited the house, yelled, swore and created a disturbance, according to the report.

Property damage

A Cottage Grove man reported Jan. 18 that someone spraypainted the side of his pickup truck and sprayed expanding foam into the gas filler pipe while it was parked at Hidden Harbor Marina, 388 Ninth Ave.

Park violation

A man and woman, both of Cottage Grove, were ticketed for being in a park after hours after a police officer found them in Lions Levee Park about 12:15 a.m. Jan. 19.

Suicidal threat

Police responded to a home in the 1500 block of Ashland Avenue Jan. 19 for a report of a suicidal female. A 23-year-old woman was transported to Regions Hospital for emergency examination and hospitalization after she threatened to stab herself with a kitchen knife, which she was holding against her abdomen.

Vandalism

A St. Paul Park man reported Jan. 20 that someone threw eggs at his vehicle parked in the 600 block of Hastings Avenue.

Suspicious activity

A St. Paul park woman called police Jan. 21 after she had been followed around the city by a man in another vehicle. The man yelled at her outside the St. Paul Park Post Office and then followed her as she drove around the city. She eventually lost him but was able to give police the man’s license plate. Police later located the man, who admitted to following the woman but could not provide an adequate reason for doing so. Police reported there was possible mental illness involved.
