Park girls basketball: Wolfpack beats No. 4 Roseville

The Park girls basketball team ended Roseville’s 20-game win streak on Tuesday night in Cottage Grove, upsetting the fourth-ranked Raiders 52-49.

The Park girls basketball team ended Roseville’s 20-game win streak on Tuesday night in Cottage Grove, upsetting the fourth-ranked Raiders 52-49.

In the showdown between the top two teams in the Suburban East Conference, Park (18-5; 12-3 SEC) went up 27-21 at the half and held on for the win. It was the first loss for the Raiders (21-2; 14-1 SEC) in conference play since Jan. 24 of last year.

Park junior guard Sydney Lamberty led the way for the Wolfpack, scoring a game-high 18 points. In addition, senior guard Larissa Lurken scored 16 points and sophomore guard Annie Williams netted 14 points. Lamberty leads the SEC in scoring at 18.4 points per game. Lurken is third at 18.0 points per game. The 14 points were a career high for Williams.

It was Park’s sixth win in a row and ninth in its past 10 games.

Since the start of last season, Roseville is 41-6, but two of those have been to Park. The Wolfpack also beat the Raiders 47-45 last year at Park on Jan. 10.

On Friday, Park plays host to Cretin-Derham Hall in its final regular-season home game of the year and the Wolfpack will honor its two seniors – Lurken and Courtney Waldo. The game begins at 7:15 p.m.
