In its biggest meet thus far, the Park dance team produced its best performance.

In the Suburban East Conference championship meet, held Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, Park took fifth in the High Kick competition, scoring 17 points and seventh in the Jazz/Funk category with 21 points.

The team was without three girls due to injuries, but still turned in their best performances of the year.

“This was a big competition for the girls and they hit it hard,” Park assistant coach Veronica Hemmingsen said. “We had our goal to be bumped up in our conference and we did that. Kick performed the best they ever have this year.”

Next, Park will compete in the Simley Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26, in Inver Grove Heights.

“We will have a lot of competition there and hopefully the girls will be well-recovered with a weekend off to rest up,” Hemmingsen said. “We want to bring it and hope to place at this competition.

“We are working hard to improve and build up confidence when we go out there, fans help the girls very much so please come out and show your support.”
