A St. Paul man was arrested for driving a stolen car after he tried to steal gasoline from a Cottage Grove gas station, according to police. An employee at SuperAmerica, 7162 East Point Douglas Road, reported a gas drive-off about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 3 and provided a license plate number. Police located the suspect vehicle traveling on Highway 61 and made a traffic stop. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of St. Paul. Police arrested James D. Fulliam, 26, of St. Paul, and he was booked in Washington County jail pending formal complaint on suspicion of possession of stolen property, theft of gas and driving after cancellation.
A homeowner in the 9200 block of Jergen Court reported Dec. 17 that an unknown person drove through the yard. No damage caused.
A Cottage Grove man reported Dec. 28 that he found burned mail in his mailbox in the 6900 block of Prairie Court.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Jan. 1 that a home was egged in the 7300 block of Burr Oak Avenue.
A 16-year-old Cottage Grove male was transported to the Washington County juvenile detention center following a domestic between the teen and his father Dec. 17 at a home in the 8800 block of 91st Street. The teen was cited for fifth-degree domestic assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Cottage Grove man was jailed for allegedly assaulting his mother. Police were called Dec. 17 to a home in the 8900 block of Ironwood Avenue for a physical domestic. Tarik T. Smith-Wittmore, 18, allegedly struck his 38-year-old mother in the mouth during an altercation, according to the police report. Smith-Wittmore was jailed on suspicion of fifth-degree assault.
A 14-year-old Cottage Grove male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for fifth-degree assault after he kicked and punched another 14-year-old Cottage Grove male on Jan. 2 at Cottage Grove Middle School.
Firefighters responded to a garage fire at 6:09 p.m. Dec. 23 at 8795 Ironwood Ave. The fire was contained to one townhome garage and was extinguished by fire crews.
One teen was cited and another referred to counseling following a reported underage drinking party at a Cottage Grove home. Police were called shortly after 11 p.m. Dec. 29 to a home in the 8000 block of Grafton Avenue on a complaint of a possible underage drinking party.
A 15-year-old Newport female whose parents own the vacant home was cited for obstructing the legal process and for violating the city’s social-host ordinance. A 16-year-old Cottage Grove female was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for underage drinking. There were 23 other people at the home, but they had not been drinking and were not cited for anything.
A 19-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for underage consumption after police were called to the 8800 block of Jergen Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Jan. 6 on a report of a prowler. The teen had been at a nearby home.
A 16-year-old Cottage Grove male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for possession of drug paraphernalia after the school resource officer received a complaint Jan. 4 about juveniles smoking marijuana in the school.
Two people were arrested on alleged drug-related charges after police noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at 2:45 a.m. Jan. 5 at the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. An officer was on routine patrol when the vehicle was located. The officer could smell marijuana while talking to the two people inside, according to the report. Subsequently, Kevin M. Sipe, 24, of St. Paul, was arrested pending formal complaint for alleged possession of a fifth-degree controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Emily K. Schuster, 19, of Lakeville, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a fifth-degree controlled sub stance and providing false information to police, a misdemeanor. Both were transported to Washington County jail. Police allegedly found a glass pipe containing a substance believed to be meth.
