Park girls basketball: Wolfpack squeaks by Norby, Rangers
Following a 1-1 showing at the Southwest Minnesota State Holiday Classic in Marshall, the Park girls basketball team returned to the Suburban East Conference and took down Forest Lake 52-47 on Friday, Jan. 4, in Cottage Grove.
Following a 1-1 showing at the Southwest Minnesota State Holiday Classic in Marshall, the Park girls basketball team returned to the Suburban East Conference and took down Forest Lake 52-47 on Friday, Jan. 4, in Cottage Grove.
The victory improved Park’s record to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the SEC.
Park took a 30-21 halftime lead. In the second half, Forest Lake (9-3; 3-2 SEC) came back, outscoring the Wolfpack 26-22. However, Park hung on for the five point win.
Park junior Sydney Lamberty and senior Larissa Lurken combined for 34 points in the win. Lamberty had a team-high 18 points. Lurken had 16 points.
Forest Lake junior forward Bailey Norby led all scorers with 20 points in the game. Norby leads the conference in scoring currently at 20 points per game — just ahead of Lurken (19.1).
Park has its hands full this week. The Wolfpack took on sixth-ranked Roseville (11-1; 5-0 SEC) on Tuesday, Jan. 8, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, Park is in St. Paul to tip off with Cretin-Derham Hall (4-7; 2-3 SEC) on Friday, Jan. 11.
