Cottage Grove police reports for Jan. 8: Theft, drugs, disturbance, stolen vehicle
Recent reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove.
Theft
Verizon Wireless, 8800 East Point Douglas Road, reported Dec. 14 that an unknown person took a cellphone valued at $829.
Police were called to Park High School on Dec. 14 for a reported theft. A student reported that his cellphone was stolen. Loss: $50.
A Cottage Grove man called police Dec. 16 to report that he had about $2,000 in unauthorized credit card charges.
A Cottage Grove man reported Dec. 17 that a drill and wedding ring were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road. Total loss: $1,950.
A 39-year-old Newport woman was cited for shoplifting after she was caught stealing merchandise valued at $129.
Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a shoplifting incident Dec. 23. Three 14-year-old Cottage Grove females were subsequently referred to the Youth Service Bureau for shoplifting. The total value for merchandise stolen was $488.
A 29-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for shoplifting after he stole two shaving razor blades from Rainbow Foods, 7280 East Point Douglas Road. Value of stolen merchandise: $58.
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident Dec. 24. A 25-year-old St. Paul Park man was cited for shoplifting after stealing a cordless drill battery valued at $42.
A vulnerable adult male from Cottage Grove was the victim of a theft on Dec. 24. The man had withdrawn cash from U.S. Bank, 7200 80th St., and was walking home when an adult female started talking to him. He showed the woman the money in the bank envelope. She took $50 and left, according to the report.
A 24-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting Dec. 31 after she stole $49 worth of merchandise from Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road.
An employee at SuperAmerica, 7162 East Point Douglas Road, reported a gas drive-off about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 3 and provided a license plate number.
Disorderly conduct
A 16-year-old Cottage Grove female student was cited for disorderly conduct Dec. 14 at Park High School for a verbal incident.
Disturbance
Police were called to Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road, for a disturbance on Dec. 15. An 18-year-old Cottage Grove man was throwing carts around in the store. Police cited him for damage to property and disorderly conduct. He was transported to an area hospital for erratic behavior.
Drugs
A routine Cottage Grove traffic stop resulted in drug citations on Dec. 16. A 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both of Cottage Grove, were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia following the traffic stop at Jamaica Avenue and East Point Douglas Road.
Stolen vehicle
Police on Dec. 17 recovered a vehicle that had been stolen from Woodbury. The vehicle had been abandoned in a parking lot at 8120 East Point Douglas Road.
