Cottage Grove council approves city administrator pay increase

Cottage Grove City Council members last week approved a cost-of-living pay hike in 2013 for longtime City Administrator Ryan Schroeder ahead of a review of the position’s job description next month.

Schroeder, the city’s top staff member and highest-paid employee, will see his salary rise to $125,798 on Jan. 1, 2013, following the council’s OK at the final meeting of 2012 on Dec. 19. That figure is slightly below average among Cottage Grove’s peer communities, according to figures compiled by the city.

Next month, the council is set to review Schroeder’s job description, comparing it to those in other metro communities following a closed-door performance review conducted earlier this month.
