Cottage Grove police reports for Dec. 20: Fight, vandalism, domestic assault

Recent reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove

Fight

Two juveniles showed up at the District 833 Alternative Learning Center wanting to fight other people on Nov. 20, according to a police report. The two were told to leave the property.

Police responded to a reported assault Nov. 21 in the 8500 block of Ideal Avenue. A 16-year-old male from that location was referred to the Youth Service Bureau following an argument with a sibling.

Vandalism

A resident in the 6600 block of Timber Ridge Lane reported Nov. 21 that a mailbox was damaged. Damage: $30.

A homeowner in the 7400 block of Jocelyn Avenue reported Nov. 22 that a house and vehicle were egged.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Dec. 1 that a house was egged in the 8200 block of Grafton Avenue. No damage done.

Police received a report shortly after 3 a.m. Dec. 2 that dog feces was smeared on two vehicles in the 7300 block of Red Pine Road.

Property damage

A homeowner in the 6900 block of Timber Trail Lane reported Nov. 21 that a grill was damaged outside the residence. No damage estimate was listed.

A homeowner in the 7200 block of Jordon Avenue reported Nov. 27 that a mailbox was damaged. No damage estimate was listed.

A woman told police Nov. 28 that someone intentionally shoved a shopping cart into her car parked outside Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, causing $400 damage. Police had a possible suspect.

An unknown vehicle struck and damaged a mailbox in the 8400 block of Hilo Trail. The incident, reported Dec. 8, caused $50 damage.

A Cottage Grove woman reported late Dec. 13 that she arrived home and found her front door broken in the 6700 block of Meadow Grass Lane.

Accident

An 18-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for using a wireless device while driving and for no proof of insurance following a one-car crash at 1:38 p.m. Nov. 21 on Highway 61 near the Summit Avenue/70th Street exit. The woman’s northbound car left the road and crashed in the safety cables in the median. She suffered minor injuries but was not transported, according to police.

Domestic assault

A Cottage Grove man was arrested for allegedly assaulting another man on Nov. 22. Jeremy A. Shimizu, 47, was booked into Washington County jail on suspicion of domestic assault for allegedly throwing down, kicking and punching a 26-year-old man in their home in the 7000 block of Timber Trail Lane, according to police.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman Nov. 24. Police were called to a home in the 8200 block of Kimbro Avenue for an assault. Subsequently, Grant L. Furlong, 18, was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault and booked into Washington County jail. Furlong allegedly pushed a 50-year-old woman and made her fear for her safety, according to police.

A St. Paul man was arrested on suspicion of drug charges following a domestic incident Nov. 30, at the Cottage Grove McDonalds restaurant at 7355 East Point Douglas Road. Jeffrey R. Schwab, 29, was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called on a report that a man refused to let a woman get into her car outside the restaurant. Schwab allegedly possessed methamphetamine.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested following a domestic incident at his home on Dec. 5. Police were called to a home in the 7700 block of 76th Street about 1:30 a.m. for a reported domestic. Kurt L. Schmidt, 60, was arrested on suspicion of interfering with a 911 call and for domestic assault. According to police, a chair was broken while Schmidt wasn’t home. When he got home he became upset and approached a juvenile male in an aggressive way, tossed chair pieces and took phones to prevent people in the home from using them. He was booked into Washington County jail.

A Cottage Grove woman was arrested for assault Dec. 5. Victoria E. Olson, 18, was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault for allegedly spitting and kicking her mother during an incident at a home in the 7100 block of Irish Avenue, according to police. Olson was booked into Washington County jail.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested for alleged domestic assault following a Dec. 5 incident. Police arrested Ryan W. Schrobilgen, 25, on suspicion of second-degree assault and domestic assault after he allegedly choked a 27-year-old Cottage Grove woman and threatened her with a knife during an altercation at a home near Hallmark Avenue and 94th Street.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested following a domestic incident Dec. 9 at a home in the 7200 block of Timber Ridge Cove. Devindra Persaud, 20, was cited for fifth-degree assault and booked into Washington County jail after he allegedly was out of control and throwing things around the home, according to the police report.
